The “East Bulgarian Horse” Association intends to brand all young horses since 2007 to the present. To that purpose several trips will be organized to various areas of the country. BRANDING

Brand is a permanent artificially applied mark on livestock for identification purposes. The process of brand application is called branding. Most often the brand is applied to the open parts of the body. It is a combination of numbers, letters or a symbol.

Freeze-branding. That branding method uses a branding iron, which instead of getting heated, is chilled to very low, freezing temperature. Freeze-branding implements liquid nitrogen. The iron is applied to the hide, and the low temperature damages the pigment-producing hair cells. The hairs of a hair cell that has been chilled turns white and never change back again. In that way the white-hair mark takes the shape of the branding iron.
